As your students seek your help in career-related areas and as you integrate career development elements into your syllabi, we encourage you to contact us to explore the services that can support your efforts.

The LSU Olinde Career Center offers comprehensive services to assist individuals in the process of career development. As faculty or staff at LSU, all of our services are available to you as your own career develops. An individual appointment is a great place to start.

Absent Professor Program

If you are unable to be in class, consider using the Absent Professor Program to schedule an LSU Olinde Career Center staff member to meet with your class and provide a 15– to 60-minute presentation on any career-related topic (including an overview of services offered). Before our presentation, we can take care of pertinent administrative tasks, such as checking roll or making announcements.

Liaison program

The LSU Olinde Career Center liaison program is designed to strengthen communication and collaboration between the LSU Olinde Career Center and various campus constituencies. As you integrate career components into your courses, LSU Olinde Career Center staff members are available to present career information on any aspect of career planning. Popular topics include:

  • Graduate & Professional School Preparation -- admission considerations, timelines

Ethical & legal standards in student hiring

The National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE), the leading source of information on the employment of the college educated, provides a set of ethical standards for guiding the job-search process. The Principles for Professional Practice for Career Services & Employment Professionals provides a set of standards based on notions of fairness, equal opportunity, truthfulness, non-injury, confidentiality, and lawfulness. Internship Council

The LSU Internship Council was formed to create a more diverse and comprehensive internship program with input from faculty, staff, administrators, community leaders and students. Today, this council works diligently to increase the number of students with strong skills in critical thinking, creative problem solving and effective communication as outlined in the Flagship 2020 plan.
