Office of the Dean of Students

Welcome from the Dean of Students

Dear Students, mari

On behalf of the Office of the Dean of Students, I would like to welcome you back to LSU for the Spring 2016 semester. This is also the start of my second semester as the Associate Vice President and Dean of Students. If we have not met, I urge you to introduce yourself to me and share your LSU story. I like to be called Mari (pronounced Mah-dee).

The Office of the Dean of Students has been busy developing ways to turn the four priorities I set forth last semester into a reality. The priorities include leadership & involvement; diversity, inclusion & cultural competence; holistic student development; and safety & security. Some of our plans for this semester include:

  • kicking off the 27th year of Leadership LSU;
  • recruiting new members to NPHC fraternities and sororities;
  • continuing Dinner & Discussion, a series of conversations on campus and national issues;
  • expanding space for Disability Services to proctor exams;
  • creating a Tailgate Taskforce;
  • adding bias incident reporting to our LSU CARES referral process;
  • selecting the Tiger Twelve Class of 2016; and
  • Student Government elections, which includes selecting a new Student Body President and Vice President.

I am very excited to be a Tiger and look forward to helping you succeed at LSU. I encourage you to take advantage of the events, services, and resources available through the Office of the Dean of Students. We are here to support you. Geaux Tigers!
